Work Hours for International students in Canada to be increased to 24 hours per week

Canada’s Immigration Minister Marc Miller has announced that the temporary policy, which allowed international students to work off-campus for more than 20 hours per week, while classes were in session, will end on April 30.

Thus, starting from today, international students will need to stop working for more than 20 hours per week, until the new policy takes effect in September.

“This fall , we intend to change the number of hours, students may work off campus, per week, to 24 hours”, states Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in its release.

The limit of 24 hours per week, which has been announced, is higher than the pre-pandemic limit of 20 hours, but much lower than the anticipated limit of 30 hours per week.
